1st Birthday Party

Today is Thomas' birthday, and we threw a big birthday bash. It was so much fun! First off, though, I just want to say that I can't believe that Thomas is one year old. That blows me away. It has been a wonderful year. He has brought us so much joy and happiness (and sleepiness). He is such an energetic little kid with insatiable curiosity. It's hard to keep up with him sometimes.

I know that a lot of you that read this were also at the party, so this won't be anything new. But, who knows, we may have an admirer (stalker) out there who feeds off of every detail. If so, this one's for you.

The party started at 4:30 at Fitz Park in South Salt Lake. We had "reserved" a pavilion there at the park. The party had a theme of a little prince's first birthday. Aubree did a fantastic job putting together the party and the decorations. I tried to help put things up and prepare, but Aubree was really the brains behind this operation. Everything went along with the theme. It was great. Plus, the weather was fantastic today.

The party was tons of fun! We had lots of family there to support Thomas. Plus, everyone knew it would be a good time. We had dinner, and then we had cake and ice cream. Thomas really enjoyed eating his piece of cake, as can be seen. There was also a cake for me since my birthday is on Wednesday. Thank you for making that for me, Aubree.

After cake and ice cream, Thomas opened his presents. Man, he made a haul. That seems to be his trend, facilitated by pretty much anybody who knows this little guy. He's pretty spoiled. But, what else would you expect for the first grandchild on both sides? To make this the best party ever, we had a pinata. That's right. A pinata! Nothing could be better.

He's already taken a liking to his new toys. He even has a new swing up at home. He loved swinging in it after we returned from the party, and he also enjoyed playing in the grass. He is funny, though. He didn't want his knees to touch the grass for some reason, so he was crawling on just his hands and feet. Maybe this is a step towards walking. Who knows?

Really, this was just a great day to spend with our precious little boy and all of our wonderful family. Thank you for coming, everyone. We really are blessed! That is a thought I've been having a lot of lately. I mean, seriously...wow!

That was the greatest first birthday bash that I've ever been to. You and Aubree sure know how to throw a party. It was a beautiful day. By the way, just curious...did Cory ever get his shoe out of the tree? Love you guys! And a very happy birthday to you on Wednesday.

So the best part of the birthday party was watching Tank pick up that cake and shove it in his mouth. What a stud!! Thanks for throwing such a great party. It was fun to get together and I am so glad we were all able to be there.

What a fun party that was. You guys did a great job planning and carrying it out. Thomas was so cute and even looked like a little boy instead of a baby. What a sweetheart. I am so glad it was a warm, beautiful day. Thanks for having us all come!
